A new chapter to my life!

To Negative “Nelly’s and Ned’s”
I’ve watched and read the exchanges back and forth now since I was let go back in October. Not only have I bit my tongue and smashed my fingers not to comment on this board I have searched this site and others for a J.O.B.
I find more and more people are asking for Free services in their talent search. I have always brought more than being a jock to the table. I’ve increased the numbers anywhere I have gone by just being myself.
Believe me, I thought long and hard before posting on this board because I find that many, not all, have a habit of ‘blowing smoke” when it comes to how much they know about the average ‘Joe’ or in my case the average ‘Jane’ who has been let go. When it comes to cuts, it really doesn’t matter about your numbers, or your talent. The ‘suites’ are all about going with the numbers of the bottom line. Please don’t take this as a bashing of what they (the suites) have done in the economy we are in right now. They are doing what they think is the right thing to do. I have a prediction myself and that is Radio as we know it will be changing over the next 6 months! To those who find yourself in the same position as I am of being unemployed, know that you are not alone and as long as you have a passion for the business, it will return to the way it was before all the corporate mass buying happened. If you are discouraged and want to leave the business then do what you must do to survivor! It is the few that post on this board who think they know it all which this next statement is for:
Find the rock which you crawled out of and please return! There are several of us who truly have a passion beyond words for the business we are in, or in my case currently out but looking to return. Think back to the real reason you got into radio… now if it was a reason like getting a ‘piece’ or becoming ‘popular’ then I’m not talking to you. But if it was to make a difference in someone’s life or in the community, hell maybe even the world! Then you are the ones who have lasted all these years because of that passion! There are several ‘Golden Rules’ I’ve lived by in all these years and they are: “Treat others like you want to be treated”, “Respect others the way you want to be Respected” “Share ideas with your co-worker to improve the team” and “Karma always has a way of showing you what you’ve done right or wrong”.
To those still looking for your next gig… Good luck and keep a positive outlook on life! May you get what you want out of life and be blessed along the way.
To the people who only have negative things to say… May you also get what you want out of life and be blessed along the way.

This is just a quick check in to let ya’ll know I am still looking for work.
Today was busy with go here and there and do this and that. The normal things that I normally need to do to get my work around the house done. I had to also get insurance for myself. It has been a crazy kind of day with travel plans to go and see my mom and dad over the weekend. I’m looking forward to hanging out with them before heading back here to work on getting work again. So I may not blog until Monday. Have a Happy Halloween and safe weekend!

Today made a week that I was let go from a corporation that I must not put in this blog, so I can be assured I don’t get sued. But as they say “You can’t get blood from a rock!” or is that water... Anywho!
For the first time in 25 years I am really considering not going back into a business that I love. Maybe it’s because I hear today that yet more people were let go! Oh what’s a girl to do!
I guess I could feel sorry for myself but it’s not in my nature. See even after this I still crave to have fun on the air and entertain people! I’ve been told I am good at what I do. Being a humble person, which is very rare in this field I chose, this is why I can relate so well with those who listen. I’ve always shared my life with strangers and not had a second thought about it! I have always tried to do side work to have a little spending cash because Lord knows the average DJ doesn’t make enough to keep a little nest egg hid away. While I was working I did a blog everyday and got into the habit of it. So now here I am with no reason to get up at 3:30am in the morning!
What happened to me today?
I started my day by making $22.20! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot and really you’re right! But because I wasn’t rushed to head to work I had time to sit and think and I remembered I had set up a Paypal account a while back and checked to see how much was in it and look out I’m making money for just remembering!
I know it doesn’t sound so exciting but to me I felt like I had done something with my day! The last time I was unemployed was back in April so once I signed up for unemployment I found out I had 2 checks that had been sent back when I moved. So today I also made $550! Not too shabby for a Jobless DJ!
Before I head off to bed to get a few hours of sleep before my body tells me I need to get up and go to work, I want to share one more thing about my day today. A friend, who I met online a few years ago, caught up with me online and we played catch up for the past 2 years.
So in summary, today was a good day for this jobless DJ!
I do have other skills and Lord knows I’m not afraid of manual labor! I think right now I am going to take this time to continue to do my side voice jobs and look for more. Hey that’s where you can help me out! I will ask that you visit my site and listen to my demos and if you know anyone who is looking for someone who needs voice work then refer them to me. It could be an answering machine or service, web site or a commercial for radio or TV. I make you this promise “I won’t overcharge them for something that I love to do!”
I accept Paypal, which makes it easy to pay me! No stamps or envelopes to address and send!
